21st June 09 - Summer!
I have two days left at work, and then I'm off into the sunset, new adventures awaiting. Or something. The last 3.5 years have been great, and now that I quit, it's not because I don't like it here any more, it's rather that I've become a bit restless, and looking for some change. Looking forward to becoming an active skydiver again, which I haven't exactly been the last few years. People who started jumping long after I got my B-license are now the instructors I ask for advice... Which is kind of cool, I suppose.
Anyway...

Me leading an easy pitch, 2 years ago
Summer's here. On tuesday, I'm heading up to Lofoten again, to climb. This'll be the third summer in a row that we go there, and for good reason; the mountains up there are amazing. Pure solid granite, instead of the rotten piles of rock you find many other places in Norway. Makes for far more safe and enjoyable climbing. This trip will hopefully be topped with an ascent of the southern pillar on Norway's national mountain Stetind. No guarantees on that, though. We will attempt it if we consider ourselves fit for it, practicing on shorter routes of the same difficulty.
After Lofoten, I'm off to a scout-camp, no less! Going there with old friends from the boyscouts. This takes place in Romsdalen, which is also famous for great mountains, although not as solid as up in Lofoten. I wont be climbing here though, but hopefully hiking a bit.

Then it's time for Voss, and skydiving. And beerdrinking. My friend is starting his skydiving course at that time, so we'll both stay there for at least two weeks. Summer at Voss is always great, and now that we're both going, we'll most likely climb a bit there as well, and also set up a highline across a river... I know just the spot. :)
I've also promised my mother to fix a wall on her house... There's quite a bit of rotten wood there, so I'll be replacing most of, or the entire wall. And my father also has several trees that should be cut down and turned into firewood.
And that was my plans for the summer. In mid-august, I'm moving into my new flat in Bergen, staying with a jumping friend, and a third guy I haven't met yet. There's been living skydivers that place for years, and I've been there several times before. It's a good place, pretty cheap, and located right in downtown Bergen.

My axes!
I haven't been looking forward to winter ever since I was a kid, but that has changed now. Why? Well, I've bought myself a couple of climbing-axes! Crampons and proper shoes, ice-screws and other gear will be bought later on, but certainly before the winter comes. I'm a complete newbie on ice-climbing, and alpine mountaineering all in all, I have to admit, but it is time to change that. :)
I'd say I've got quite a bit to look forward to, but I'll sure as hell miss Drageid.
Also, I'll be mostly offline for a month or so. As if anyone's going to notice ;)

20th February 2009
Loonixbräu v6 and v7 is now bottled, and the taste was promissing, so I think it should turn out quite good till my brothers wedding in early april. Here's a couple of pictures. Last weekend I was at a hut with my two brothers, among others. I had not been crosscountry skiing for about 10 years before that, but I think I pulled it off ok anyway. :) There's some pictures from there on the photoblag.
Also looking forward to getting back to Drageid. There's a couple of climbing-projects awaiting, and also an interesting highline to walk. Not that it's very high, maybe 8 meters up, so it's a relaxing line (for a highline, anyway), and looking pretty good.
I did some solo aid climbing here in Hellvik a week or two ago, after finally finding a suitable wall. There are strangely few walls that offers decent protection-possibilities, for such a rocky landscape. Crack-systems are either too flaring, or just doesn't go all the way up. But at last I found a good wall to practice aid climbing, and I got to try out the rope-ladders (better known to climbers as 'aiders') that I made some time ago. They were great.
And at last, (more) good news.. the days are getting longer. If I ignore the snow that came a bit ago, it looks like spring is near! This means I can crawl out of hibernation-mode and start doing things again. It's been a slow couple of months...
