Gfx tutorial by Loonix, how to set stuff on fire! 1. new document, fill with black. Name the layer "flames" 2. make a new layer, and create a selection on it, this will be your object that you will add flames around. Name this layer "object". Fill your selection with any color 3. Select->Modify->Expand: 10 pixels 4. choose FFC000 as foregroundcolor, and FF0000 as background 5. Choose the "flames" layer, and Filter->Render->Clouds 6. Filter->Noise->Add Noise: 130, uniform, mono 7. Deselect, and Filter->Blur->Gaussian blur, by 1 pixel 8. Image->Rotate Canvas->90 CW 9. Filter->Stylize->Wind: from the right 10. Image->Rotate Canvas->90 CCW 11. Filter->Blur->motion blur: angle 74, distance 15 12. Duplicate the "flames" layer, call the new one "big flames" 13. Ctrl+click the "object" layer to select the object, choose the "big flames" layer, hit Del, and deselect. 14. Hide layer "flames", and make a new layer called "black", fill with with black and put it below the other layers. 15. Choose the "big flames" layer, select the smudge-tool, with ocapacity on 80-85 (expiriment..). Choose a scattered brush (in v5.5 I use the one on 4th row, second from the right on the brushes menu). 16. Point it at your flames, and drag them. With some expirimenting, you'll get a nice result 17. When you think the flames look good, duplicate the "big flames" layer twice. Set the one above "big flames" to Overlay and the next one to Color Dodge. Depending on what heat you'd like on the flames, adjust the ocapacity of those two layers. now you are done.. make the "flames" layer visible again, if you think it looks better that way. Use the blur tool to fix places where it became a bit rough.
